About the Artist

I am an artist and Orthodox iconographer living and working in the beautiful, historic city of Chester, Cheshire in England, UK.

My journey into iconography began with a heartfelt prayer for truth. Listening quietly, I followed the call to begin to draw faces. Fortuitous encounters and wonderful encouragement later, and I consider myself truly grateful to have fallen in love with the sacred art of iconography and through that, with Christ and His Orthodox Church.

Ever-learning and developing my craft and confidence, I am blessed to train in person under professional iconographer and Orthodox priest, Father Justin Venn of Studio Sanctus. I have also undergone in-person training with world renowned iconographer and liturgical artist, Aidan Hart.

I am grateful to have been recently selected via application to continue my icon painting training under Aidan Hart's tuition on the 3 year Icon Painting Course at The King's Foundation School of Traditional Arts, 2025 - 2028.

My practice is to follow and continue the long tradition of Christian imagery in the Byzantine style. I use traditional methods handed down by artisans for centuries. All handcrafted icons and sacred art is painted in egg tempera made with natural earth pigments and eggs from my own chickens.

Drawing forms the foundation of the apprenticeship in iconography, and I continue to enjoy the simplicity of drawing in pencil and monochrome studies.

Every icon and work of sacred art is a contemplative experience, rooted in stillness and prayer, and a communion with the holy person depicted.

My background is over 30 years working as a medical doctor, therapist and coach. Originally, as a diagnostic and post-mortem pathologist, where my eye was trained to truly see. Latterly, as a psychotherapist and coach in private practice, where I was blessed to be able to develop my abilities to be inwardly still and attune to another. I believe these skills continue to serve me well as I develop my sacred art practice today.
